Places to visit in Berlin

Places to visit in Berlin

Spend a day on museum island!

Museum island has The Altes Museum, The Neues Museum (which was destroyed in World War II and then rebuilt under the director of David Chipperfield and re-opened in 2009), The Alte Nationalgalerie which was completed in 1876, The Bode Museum which exhibits the sculpture collections and late antique and Byzantine art and The Pergamon Museum which was constructed in 1930. As you can imagine, theres loads of history to take in here!

Go shopping in Maur Park

Every Sunday the flea market at Mauerpark in Prenzlauer Berg gets packed with people hunting for bargains.. things like secondhand clothes, vintage bags and jewellery.
Explore Germans Jewish History
Jewish History lies everywhere around Germany.. from statues to iconic places to memorials – there is so much history.  There are some tours in Germany that offer a guided tour that gives you a perspective of jewish lives in world war II. Did you know there are Jewish museums too?
Walk the Berlin Wall
The Wall was destroyed between June and November 1990.. well most of it… although a restored stretch still remains along the southern border of Wedding and Mitte. Part of the wall now acts as a gallery.
The Reichstag
Why not visit this building that has some of the coolest architecture? Its also packed with history.

How not to spend a fortune in New York

How not to spend a fortune in New York

Whats there to do?

What makes New York so great?.. it’s atmosphere and you can soak it up anywhere you go in the streets of the Big Apple. Chinatown, soho, Upper East side and thats all in Manhattan! like theres loads of places to visit for free. You’ve got Times Square, New York Public library, Grand Central Station, Central Park… here why not visit all the iconic movie locations around the city?

Plenty of Iconic Programmes and Movies were filmed in new york and you can head to the locations they were filmed in… a small list of the movies were:

  • Warriors 1947
  • Shaft 1971
  • The Muppets take Manhatten 1995
  • Home Alone 2
  • The Godfather Part II
  • Ghost Busters
  • Men In Black
  • Taxi Driver
  • Big

Theres Loads!

Theres also loads of tours you can go on… but the city is packed with interesting things to go see and visit if you’re not wanting to dish out loads of cash! like why not go see the Titanic Memorial?  Theres also a 90 minute free walking tour of the area around Grand Central station. If you look for something to do you’ll find it really easy in New York!

The big attractions can be made cheaper if you invest in a New York City pass.. its something like $115 per adult.. but that covers you for 6 different museums and attractions like The Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building!

Rooftop Bars is a great bar that lets anyone in.. so you don’t need to fork out for a room to get a view of the city. Its got a lovely view of the Empire State Building and the place isn’t too dear either.

Its massive new york.. you’ll cover a LOT of ground just trying to get to places. Your best bet is to get a 7 day metro card. The subway is open 24 hours of the day, 7 days of the week too.
